It is a proven fact that the production of short films is increasingly common in the audio-visual world as a way of promoting new narrative and visual forms. The easy access to the new technologies and the approximation to the amateur production has started a revolution in the world of the short films, and both young creators and the most recognized film directors opt for them, being able to use them as a way of social protest, and to handle fewer commercial topics.

V Festival Mal del Cap #NarrativesMalDites of Ibiza
Every year a contest of short films is organized by the Ibizan cultural association Mal del Cap with the sponsorship of the Consell d’Eivissa, celebrated like never before, extolling the island as the epicenter of the new narratives and audio-visual trends. From the 9th to the 17th of November, we will be able to enjoy a varied program, obviously with a special spotlight for the short films.
Throughout its history, the festival has been much more than a contest, since it also involves the displacement of people who come to the island to enjoy it, and it is also a place of meeting for young independent artists whose aim is the experimentation of the new ways of telling stories across the screen.

Last September 28th the Show of Prizes IBIZA VIDEO SLOW FESTIVAL took place in the Sant Pere’s Bastion where the five videos that gained the most votes were awarded via the app “Ibiza Viu”.
In this second edition of the contest, five statuettes of the goddess Tanit, the representation of our island, were awarded, and ten videos were screened, selected from the fifty presented works.
The aim of Ibiza Slow Video Festival is to show the most unknown side of the island, by using the participants audio-visual creations; the production and / or filming in Ibiza is a fundamental prerequisite, and the general topics are the art and the culture, though this year the sea and the protection of the environment have received special attention.
With this philosophy the Ibiza Slow Festival fulfills two of its main objectives:
1. Promote the lesser known face of Ibiza
2. Support the audiovisual sector of Ibiza
2nd Edition “Corto y cambio de rol”
On Saturday 29th of September the short films of “Corto y cambio de rol” were released in the Club Diario de Ibiza, an initiative created by the Consell d’Eivissa for young people who are between 14 and 17 years old, consisting of the creation of short films about gender. The main idea of this sample is to offer a space of freedom to young people, to give them the possibility of expressing their concerns and experiences, simultaneously involving them in the audio-visual creation of a plot about violence and conflicts concerning sex or gender.
The screened short films are “El bloody de Mary” of Sant Antoni’s Espai Jove, “Mírame” of the C19 of Ibiza city, “Respira” and “Pisando huevos”, of the IES Xarc of Santa Eulària. After the projections a colloquium will be undertaken by the participants. A great initiative to give the young people an awareness of the dangers of the established gender roles. The short films will be screened again in Ibizacinefest’s new edition.
