‘L’escot’ is one of the most successful Catalan films of the eighties. This erotic film was distributed internationally in countries like Italy, Yugoslavia, Japan, Mexico and the United States. It marked the film debut of Brazilian actress Laura Conti, who achieved popularity thanks to the movie.
The film is an adaptation of the novel ‘Amarrada al piló’ written by Maria Jaen and published in 1986. It replaced the scenes set in Cadaqués, in the original manuscript, for Ibiza, in the film. Images recorded on the island were filmed in September 1986 and in them we can see Ses Salines beach and the districts of Dalt Vila and Marina, among other location. Ibizan Josep Antoni Bonet and Juana Piña also made a brief appearance in the film.
‘L’escot’ was well received by the press. The veteran film critic Miquel Porter Moix praised the direction of the actors, the staging and dialogues, placing the film above the average of the Catalan productions of that time.
