First feature documentary coming from Enrique. Portraiting the German artist who lives in Ibiza, Erwin Bechtold. From being as an apprentice in the family printing business up to becoming one of the most renowned contemporary artists.
The documentary focuses especially on his relationship with the island of Ibiza and Grupo Ibiza 59. This work premiered at the International Film Festival of Valladolid (Seminci) in 2009 within the series “Arte y Cine”. Premiered in Ibiza on January 8, 2010 at the Club Diario de Ibiza. Complemented with the exhibition “Papeles Emblématicos” from Bechtold himself.
The film is a testament to a time when the island of Ibiza, began to project as a tourist destination as well as a meeting place for artists from different disciplines.
It was filmed in the painter’s house in Can Cardona in Sant Carles, in addition in Dalt Vila and the port of Ibiza.
In the DVD edition you can see the short documentary ‘Cicle de Terra’ (2006), directed by Villalonga himself in Girona, on the Catalan artist Jofre Sebastian.
