On October 7th, ‘Es Gegant des Vedrà’, one of the latest projects by the Ibizan production company Pauxa Films, will premiere at the 56th edition of Sitges Film Festival
Héctor Escandell’s film is inspired by the book ‘Rondaies Eivissenques’ written by Joan Castelló Guasch
The International Film Festival of Sitges’ 56th edition, one of the most important fantasy and horror film festivals in the world, will host the premiere of the director Héctor Escandell’s new project: Es Gegant des Vedrà i altres rondaies. The date chosen for the grand premiere will be October 7th.
The film is based on the book Rondaies eivissenques by Joan Castelló Guasch and has been inspired by works such as The Goonies, The Princess Bride or Big Fish. This project began a few years ago, when Joan Castelló’s book fell into the hands of Héctor Escandell.
The film, which mixes customs and fantasy through magical realism, is composed of three fables: Es Gegant des Vedrà, Ses calaveres de Can Fita and Nit de Tots Sants. It is shot entirely in Ibizan dialect, even with words and expressions already out of use.
Among the names linked to the project are the musician Miquel Àngel Juncosa, and the special effects expert Adrián Cardona. Among the cast, we find the well-known Mallorcan YouTuber Miquel Montoro, heroic protagonist of the Es Gegant des Vedrà fable, and the veteran actor Joan Pera, who plays the writer Joan Castelló Guasch, narrator of the different stories that are told, in addition to a long and extended Ibizan cast.
“The production of this work has choosen to create artisanal special effects that give the film an organic, story-like style,” explains a press release sent by Pauxa Films, the production company.
Also according to the production company itself, the premiere of this production in Sitges will be accompanied by a promotional campaign of Ibiza (the island), its culture and its most traditional products.
We hope to see you next October 7th in Sitges!
