Since early 2000, there has been a significant increase in Indian feature films production shot in Europe to promote their exports into the international market. The film ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ (2011), shot in different Spanish cities and translated into Castilian as ‘Sólo se vive una vez’, was a huge success in India and led to 130,000 tourists from that country to visit Spain in 2012.
‘Don Seenu’ includes a scene shot in Ibiza and Formentera, which the Foundation for Tourist Promotion of Ibiza collaborated.
The set on the islands were filmed in May 2010, in the Platges de Comte, Cala Bassa, Cala Sant Vicent, Sa Caleta, Sant Josep village and Cap de Barbaria, among other locations. These images are part of a sequence in which the actors Ravi Teja and Anjana Sukhani dance and perform a playback to the song ‘Aduguthundhi Yadha’. As usual in Bollywood productions, the voices of the song do not belong to the actors appearing in the film. In this case, the singers are Vedala Hemachandra and Malavika.
‘Don Seenu’ had a budget of four million euros and besides Ibiza and Formentera, images of Barcelona, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates and India were also included.
